All in a row

These glasses hang out in my cupboard that were rescued from Esther's house years ago. Again ran into reflected light. This room has no windows but the kitchen solar window kept showing up,

Forgotten project

Slowly, ever so slowly I am trying to clean out stuff that is hanging around in closets and corners and boxes and...  Last night I bumped into a box of stuff that needs to go that has been sitting in my bedroom for over a month. In the process of moving it to the garage for next summers garage sale I noticed a box of craft stuff up on a top shelf.  Found lots of wool yarn, books and misc in the box. From what was in the box, I think the yarn is left over from my Indian beading and weaving phase that never happened. Interesting price on each yarn, $1.42 for a total of $12.27 in Nov. 1993.

Splash

This is a photo from a previous session of the high speed water drops. This is what it looks like after the water drop enters the water.

Poppies

One of my favorite flowers are poppies. Found several different varieties at  the Botanical Garden. More poppies to come!

Funky glass

Went a little crazy with this glass and it looks a little like a horn.  I like the swirled patterns which made it interesting for a O-hum photo.

Water refraction

This is similar to a couple of older posts using the zebra wrapping paper and water.

Blizzard - 4 days after the 1st day of SPRING

Living in Wyoming, we are used to weather events like blizzards instead of flowers in early Spring. And the ground hog event in February- well that's a joke here as we know there will be no early Spring whether or not he sees his shadow.  This is my giraffe that is a couple of feet tall in my patio. Seven inches so far.

These are the bushes in front of my townhome. And the reason I was out, see photo below. I could not see out my front window and went out to broom the snow off.

Water drop

This is water dripping into a bowl of clear water and colored paper underneith. I set the table for the bowl 1/2 in the bath tub and 1/2 out. I then hung a plastic bag with a pin hole in it from the shower curtain rod to give me the water drip. Guessing when it would hit was impossible. Anything I got was pure luck. I took over 300 photos and saved about 20. Love digital-- just delete!

Tiny little flowers

Again found little treasures at the Botanical Gardens. Each flower was about the size of a quarter.

FIRST DAY OF SPRING

This is a day for celebration and couldn't resist going back in an external hard drive (2008) for a grand finale show from the Independence Day celebration to bring this day in with a bang. YES, it is the 1st day of Spring, but for us that are hanging around southeast WY, the weather never correlates with the calendar when it comes to spring weather.  Another great day  and one of my favorite days of the year is December 21 when MR Sun decides to again move south and give us us a minute or two of additional daylight each day. But I have not put my snow boots away yet.

And hugs to all.

The stem, just the stem

This is the wine or water glass stem with the polka dots distorted.

Lid and wrapping paper

This is similar to a previous post but with this one the white outlined flower is more prominent.

Liquidfied background

With this one I have used the photoshop filter liquidfy to distort everything but the glasses.

Santa came yesterday and brought me a new macro lens and the Lightroom 6 which is an  up date from the version 4 that I am using. Yeah.

Polka dots

Old fashioned polka dots behind the water glasses. Always interesting to see how the water refracts whatever is behind it.

Really shiny paper

Okay, you are probably thinking that I have gone totally bonkers.  These photos are the same set up with the one above with the paper smoothed out. The one below it was messy and I was getting the hot spots that you see but more of the colors. The paper reflected light and colors to the extreme. Pulling in photoshop adjustments really brought out the colors as I did with the stems blow. The other glass beside the stems is close to what I could see. Fun paper and I will have to work with it some more.

Glasses in a row

These are three glasses that I have lined up with "wine" in them. The opaque liquid prevents the refraction that happens with clear water.

In this age of computer everything, I grab my Iphone to get correct spellings of words. First I tried the instant message and it came up with Open Me then I went to Siri- same problem. I then went to the dictionary that is 45 years old. Waa La. Opaque! Oh is waa la correct??

UW buildings and bikes

Here is another contrast in old and modern building on the UW campus. The one above is just a class room  and again lots of bikes. The side facing towards Prixeys Pasture (east) is interesting and the side facing the street is just another building.  And again bikes-- easy cheap transportation. They have no bike/walk zones on some of the side walks around Prixey's and I could understand why when a student zoomed past me.

I liked the repeating circular patterns in this photo.Almost captured it with out students.

From the same location of the modern circular building is the one above and below. I walked less than 50 fee.  Love the dormer windows and the stone. Beautiful architecture.

Oh and more bikes

Oil on water again

Similar to the previous post with bubbles in a different position.

And once again I have been fighting passwords- a necessary evil in this world. All because I want to be able to post from my phone if I am away from my house internet.  I am in nuts-ville figuring out gmail name and password (seldom use the account)- or blog email and password. Did get into the blog on my phone but today's post that was saved I could not access. Okay back to the computer. Grrr.  I can schedule a post for a specific time and day, but if the computer is not on the internet it will not post. So there may be days in the future when I go out playing in my motor home that you will not get a daily post.

Oil and water

This is a oil on water with colored paper below for the colors. What I found with the oil is that it likes to stick to gather into one large blob and I had to stir it and wait until it moved to a good composition. What is interesting some of the small bubbles picked up the flowers on the paper.  Need to find a glass pan that doesn't have Pyrex stamped in the middle of it.

Just found a glitch in the way the photos are viewed. I had checked to see if this post was on the blog and it didn't show up in my search. This is going to get interesting as I go through the year.

Bikes

Bikes are the easy transportation at UW campus.

Interesting triangle pattern with the bike rack.

Inside flowers

Once again the Botanical Gardens had some great flowers.

Really old bones

Okay here are some really bad pictures of the dinosaurs at the Univ of Laramie Geology Museum. Its free and I was impressed as to the number of specimens that they have. On the above photo the white streak is the tail of the Apatosaurus and was discovered in 1909 north of Laramie. This guy was up to 80 feet long and weighed up to 30 tons. A lot of the skeleton is complete but the small one under the tail is a Apatosaurus reproduction. It was found in northern WY but the original is located elsewhere.

I put my hand in the photo to show the size of this huge foot print. Am glad I did not have to encounter the live maker of it.

This was so big that I couldn't get it all in and head is not in the photo. Choice tail or head. Impossible to get it from the floor and went upstairs to get a better view-- Still didn't get it. I only had the small point and shoot with me. Sorry for the bad photos, but if you are in Laramie, check out the museum.

Refracted colors

This is a variation on how water flips what you see through the water. This was from an earlier shoot that other photos have been posted.

Spring!

Found these little spring time flowers outside peaking out of the ground at the Botanical Rose Garden. Nice today, 50's but very windy. Now if only March and April were not our snowiest months.

More Oil on water

This is a variation from the one I posted yesterday. They took a long time so will post a few more later.
