Snowy bridge

It continues to be snowy and cold and hoping May will be warmer. This is the bridge in the park.

Spring or winter?

Shish! Another snow storm. And again the flowers get covered in the frozen white stuff. We are all tired of winter weather revisiting us. Found the tulip in front of my neighbors house and went to the park to see how the daffodils were doing and found the other two flowers. Check yesterdays post as I added another photo of them. This global warming is getting old.

Daffodils 3 views

These were taken last week and not today since it is again snowing. This is one photo that has been  cropped in two different ways. As Edwin would say- there's another picture in the picture.

This morning I went back to the patch of daffodils to see if there was a photo opp.  They didn't far so well.

Water and squares

More of the funky distortion from water and glass. This is one of the photos from a previous shoot that I had not posted.  I have a file of photos ready to post and sometimes I don't get them moved to the posted file! I am trying not to duplicate photos.

Dying poppy

Here is something less trashy than yesterdays mud puddle and toilet. A poppy seed that is on it's way out.

Mud bath

Urban trash and mud puddles in the alley. This robin was taking a bath in the large puddle. The toilet was placed ready for the trash pick up, but won't happen until they pay for a special pick up. Renters... The one above was taken with an overcast sky and later in the day the sun came out for a great reflection.

Fish for dinner

This eagle is getting to be a resident of the local park. Last night when I walked I was surprised to see him/her still there after at least 10 days. He has a fish that he is eating

Grandfathers art book

Shabby chic post. Old table with paint pealing that sits in my sun room and the book on the top belonged to my grandfather, S.L. Ronning. Grandfather was a sign painter and painted landscapes for fun. The copy-write on the book is 1908 and is titled ":Pen And Ink Watercolor Rendering ..." I rescued it years ago because of  my artistic leanings. Love it because it was his.

Tulips

It's tulip season---found some in the grocery store. Mine have poked their leaves above ground but have not budded out yet. These seem to be losing their freshness as soon as roses do.

Continuing to photograph a lot inside since the commute is short and the weather is fine. Last weekends snow gave us 8 inches over 3 days and melted fast. I am sure there were some good snow photos out there, but wasn't motivated to go out.

Perching eagle

Here is a photo of the young eagle watching the water for a possible meal.

Oil, water and a scarf

This is the glass dish with the raised circles. There is water and oil in the dish with a scarf underneath. And the camera reflection from the skylight in the other room. Some days it is hard to get away from bouncing light.

Flying eagles

Here are 3 views of the juvenile eagle that has been hanging out at the lake at Lions park. Perching above the walk that goes around the lake and you can find his/her favorite places by the white spots on the trail. With research I determined this eagle is about 4 years old. The feathers on their heads stay dark until about 3 years old. All eagles have their own timeline for changing the plumage colors. This one does not have the white tail feathers like an adult does and the beak is not the brighter yellow like an adult. Eagles are  consider adults at 5 years. They can hatch 2 eggs a year and will hang around the parents for about 5 1/2 months. Only 10% of eagles hatched make it to adulthood. Eagles can live to 30 years in the wild and 50 in captivity.  These photos are a little grainy with my smaller lens and higher ISO.

Water handle

This water splash ended up with a handle to grab on to.

Ker--plunk

Redo... After the other water and glass splashing shoot, I moved every thing to the sun room and used Mr Sun for my light source. I was able to keep the glass farther away from the back drop so didn't make the wet mess on it like I did the 1st time. Learning curve. This is a very wet project as I had to wipe the table top after each splash. I kept lots of towels and a picture of water to refill the glass handy.

Poppie again

A flower for the hope for more spring like weather. Had to check the files to see if this one had been posted.

Eagle

This juvenile eagle was hanging out in the park Saturday when I went for my walk. Contrast with sky was bad and did a lot of cropping on it.

Gratitude

Karen's post on the woman out reading in the fishing boat being harassed by game and fish got me thinking about BOOKS. Books and our privilege in this century and this country that we are taught to read and allowed to read. I gathered up just a few of my reference books, inspirational books, how to paint or photograph,  or what weeds I can eat :-}, rocks, and one of my journals. The orange one in the center has The United States Constitution and below is Amendment I that give us our right to free speech or of the PRESS. Reading and free press is huge and we take it for granted.  When the Bible was first written the common man could not read and had to rely on the church leaders to interpret it.

Work in progress

This technique is a BIG work in progress. My background screen is full of water splashes, (Edwin said to move it back) the light behind the screen is too close, the light that I used had a energy saving CFL bulb. So it is again - retry and do it better. May end up moving it out of the dining room to the basement where there is more room. I could also use a fancy, smancy gizmahoochy to hang my back screen from.

Drops again

Again, water drops. This one has reflected spots on it from??? , which makes it less than perfect.

Almost connected

This one looks like it is about to connect with the previous drop. OR, maybe it is bouncing back out of the water.

My 100th post

This was done the same day as the blue water drop. When I did these I ended up putting a card table in my bathroom to use the shower rod to hang the plastic bag of water from. When my son came over he thought it strange that I had a card table in the bathroom. Okay, my house has become a photography studio.

In the last 100 days I have learned more about table top photography than the preceding 10 years of serious photography. Knowing that I would need to have a photo to post kept me searching for new ideas and how to achieve them. Library books, youtube, pinterest and just keeping my eyes open for new possibilities. Before starting this project, I would not have bothered to put in the time and effort it has taken for the creative water photography if I had not accepted Judy Myers challenge to "take a photo a day for a year". It turned into post a photo a day. So Thank You Judy.

Lines, squares and squigly lines

Oh fun, desktop computer is acting like an old man (couldn't be woman!) Or is it google - whatever. This is from a previous shoot and I am struggling to keep separate photos of those that were already posted with posted ones. And this is post number 99, OMG all the way to 365. I can do this.

Surprise mini squares

When finishing up with a shoot, I thought what if... and then poured oil in the glass. When seeing the images on the computer I notice the oil drops had refracted the squares behind the glass. Bottom two photos are close ups.

Poppy

Here is a variation of the poppies from the Botanical Gardens. This one is past it's prime and I still  like it. Have decided to get some plants or seeds for my mini flower bed.

Shadow and polka dots

This is the larger version from yesterday and with the direction of a flash a shadow was created. With the table tops that I have seen, I have not noticed any shadows and this is probably a no no, but I found it interesting. No water in these but still a little distortion from the curved glass.

Stems again

Guess this is a play on polka dots. One stem, two stems. Okay, maybe I am losing it, but that's okay, it's April Fools day. Nothing foolish here- just....
