Sand, sand, and more sand, but no water

I am up camping at Guernsey Reservoir and it is a windy, chilly, overcast day. Took a walk on the beach since there is LOTS of beach here. No water, they let it all out. Well there is a stream going down the middle, but I can not see it. Heading out for my walk, I did not expect to see much to photograph, but I found unusual nature along the way. And the lake, not so pretty.

Here are two huge cottonwood trees surviving on the edge of what is a lake part of the year. Exposed tangled roots.
